Skate park in Redditch closing for a revamp

Redditch Editorial 28th Jun, 2017   0

A skate park in Astwood Bank is set to get a face-lift to give skaters a smoother, quieter ride.

The park will be closed for three weeks while the new facilities are put into place.

The base of the park will be made out of reinforced power floated concrete, to give a smoother ride, and changes include the replacement of the metal ramps which will mean reduced noise.

It is hoped the improvements will make it more sustainable and provide a larger ‘wheeled sport’ space and the design will reduce risk of arson.

Redditch Borough Council’s Parks Officer Jackie Boreham, said: “This design has been drawn up following consultation with a local school and a lengthy consultation process.

“We hope the skate park will be open in time for the Summer holidays and will be even better than ever!”

The current skate park, and immediate areas around it, will be closed from July 3
