IT WAS greenfingers to the fore in Matchborough when RSA Arrow Vale students joined Councillors Juliet Brunner and Tom Baker-Price to carry out a makeover in the local shopping centre’s walled garden.

The idea came from ward representative Coun Brunner, building on the annual success of Matchborough’s Planting by the Pond.

he event was supported by local business Scott’s Timber Engineering of Washford, who provided wood for planters which were made by students from RSA Arrow Vale, and by county council divisional funds provided by Coun Baker-Price.

Kevin Lester, director of Scott’s, said: We are very proud to be a part of this community initiative. Our employees live locally in and around Redditch and we are pleased to be able to donate wood for the young people to make planters for the community planting event.”

Coun Brunner added: “This planting scheme has enabled our youngsters to take ownership and have a stake in making their community more attractive.”
