MOON’S MOAT Nursery and First School in Redditch has been awarded a national accolade for its work in developing its pupils learning, behaviour, well being and self-esteem, writes Charlotte Ingleby.
The Quality Lead Award has been developed by top education charity Achievement for All (AfA), a national charity that believes every child and young person should have the opportunity to fulfil their potential.
The school has been working in partnership with the charity since February 2013 since when it has seen a marked improvement in many aspects including working with parents and carers on children’s outcomes which has shown the most radical improvement in what they can do.
Headteacher Sara Fisher said: “The impact of our conversations with parents has helped us to further strengthen relationships with them and assisted us in becoming an even more open and friendly school.
“Following our ‘Good’ Ofsted earlier this year, the Quality Lead status is further confirmation of our care for and commitment to parents, children and the local community.”
Achievement for All offers support programmes to schools and settings to help them improve outcomes for children.
The aim is to work closely with parents, carers, teachers and the individual child to secure the best outcome and attainment for their students through personalised and specific targets.
The programmes are delivered directly to schools and settings backed a skilled team of expert coaches with specialist online support.
Schools have the opportunity to win two awards – Quality Marks and Quality Lead, Quality Lead being most prestigious.
A school is assessed for Quality Mark within the second year of the Schools programme. Schools are assessed in categories of planning, quality of teaching and learning, effective use of interventions, pupil progress and community relationships.
