STUDENTS at Tudor Grange Academy in Redditch held a non uniform day on behalf of Bradley Lowery. The theme was based around football shirts as football was a real love of Bradley.
Martha James, head of business studies, came up with the idea.
She said “We were all touched by Bradley’s story both staff and students and we wanted to do something to remember him by. I came up with the idea of a non-uniform day based around Bradley’s love of football. We’ve raised hundreds of pounds for his charity and it is a great to be able to do something to remember him by.”
The students spent the day in their football shirts and had a special remembrance assembly for Bradley where Mrs James gave them more information about Bradley’s illness and the charity set up on his behalf.
Jodie Bolter, Principal at Tudor Grange Academy said: “I’m really proud of the students and the staff for taking part in such an important fundraising activity. Bradley touched the hearts of the nation and we hope that our fundraising will help Bradley’s charity and his memory to live on.”
Bradley Lowery was a six-year-old boy from County Durham who, while suffering from terminal childhood cancer, touched the heart of millions.
An avid Sunderland FC supporter he met England star striker Jermaine Defoe and at his funeral, his parents asked attendees to wear football shirts.
