A MUM of five has been chosen to represent Redditch in a beauty pageant with a refreshing difference.
Thirty-eight-year-old Joedine Scott, who lives in Oakenshaw, has been selected as one of just 20 women in the UK for the country’s Mrs Earth final – a competition for mums, ladies who are married or divorced, or women over 27 years old, and she is excited to have been chosen.
“Mrs Earth is a huge pageant and I’m very lucky,” she said.
“This time last year, I had never done anything like this before. But in March I decided it might be a good way to take me out of my comfort zone and boost my confidence.
“The very first time I walked on the stage was just a fantastic experience – and it did exactly what I had hoped. But along with the confidence boost, I realised I could do much more with it and could do good things to help make the community a better place.”
Mum of five – with a 19, 17, 11, six and two-year-old to take care off – Joedine is planning to work with local schools and mental health charities over the coming months, doing her bit for the town.
“Despite what people might think, beauty pageants are not just about looks,” she said.
“I’m a size 18, quite short and very curvy – but I’m proud. I believe that true beauty comes from within, and I hope the people of Redditch will get behind me on that idea,” she added.
Joedine has been selected to be in the UK final, which will see all 20 women meet in November. The finalist from that stage will travel to Las Vegas for the international Face of the World final.
