A BIG bunch of cash for Redditch’s Where Next? Association is set to help keep the flowers flourishing this summer.
A grant of £5,000 has been gifted to the charity, which provides work experience and training for people with learning disabilities, by Santander as part of the bank’s national Discovery Grant scheme.
Discovery Grants support projects that improve people’s knowledge, skills or which provide innovative solutions to overcome social challenges and Where Next’s nomination was selected in Redditch.
Staff from Santander Redditch visited Where Next on Tuesday (August 1) to present the cheque at the charity’s Easemore Road headquarters.
The money will go towards buying plants, seeds and supplies for the garden centre project, which prides itself in growing many of its plants and flowers straight from seed.
Where Next also runs its own garden nursery at Spernall and works to boost the self-esteem and well being of its clients.
The charity is able to support individuals of all ages with varying abilities, allowing them to experience work in a real commercial environment with real customers providing an opportunity to mix with the local community.
Laura Bull, branch director at Santander’s Redditch said: “The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK.
“Our branch is committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting Where Next Association and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.
“They are a very worthy local charity, and one that is very close to our hearts.”
