Thief threw stolen microwave at chasing supermarket staff

Redditch Editorial 7th Aug, 2017   0

SUPERMARKETS on the Alcester Road in Studley have once again been targeted by thieves.

In the first incident, on Tuesday, August 1 at 5.45pm, two men walked into the Co-op store and picked up a microwave and a Karcher jet wash.

They then left the store without paying before being challenged by members of staff.

In response the men threw the microwave at staff and ran off to a silver-coloured car parked in The Bell pub car park.

A woman was sitting in the driver’s seat and the vehicle, which had ‘BVP’ as the last letters of the numberplate, then sped off up the A435 Birmingham Road.

The following day, Wednesday, August 2, at 4.45pm, a man walked into another Alcester Road supermarket, picked up £80 worth of meat, shoved it in a bag and then left without paying.

Staff described him as white, tall, skinny, with shaved dark hair, wearing glasses, black jeans and a dark coat.

Earlier in the week, at 12.20pm on Monday, July 31, a blue Carrera mountain bike was stolen after being left outside one of the supermarkets.

A man, described as white, aged 30 to 40 of medium build, short beard and wearing black trousers and a blue T-shirt, was seen riding it off along the Redditch Road.
