'We're the forgotten people of the Gateway' say Redditch residents

RESIDENTS in Longhope Close in Winyates Green say they are the ‘forgotten people’ in the proposed Eastern Gateway development.

If approved the 32 hectare site, featuring buildings nine metres high, will overshadow the homes of many of the people living in what is a quiet corner of Redditch.

Not only that but the light pollution will affect their homes and residents fear the habitats of much of the local wildlife will be destryed.

“This is going to be literally on our doorstep, and the developers have ridden roughshod over our concerns,” said resident Bill Skermer.

“There’s going to be sheds nine metres high – we won’t see the sun come up until mid-morning.”

“Redditch has low unemployment who’s to say people from Redditch will get the jobs anyway? Which means they are going to have to drive to get there.

“We are furious.”
