A BIG hearted Redditch hairdresser had her lovely locks cut off to raise money for the mum of a dear friend who is battling cancer, writes Ramla Soni.
Aimee Donachie, aged 25, who works at Mirror Mirror on Unicorn Hill, took the chop to support Val Hopkins who has been battling cancer for seven years.
Aimee explained how Val’s courage had touched her heart prompting her to do something to help.
Val who had previously beat breast cancer, felt breathless and visited the doctors a few months ago where she was told the cancer had returned and was spreading.
Aimee who has worked at the popular salon for almost five years said: “I lost my gran in the same way and it happened so quickly I could not help, so when I heard that Val had cancer I felt like I had to help in some way.
“Val was absolutely speechless when she found out I was doing this.
“We have raised £600 so far and bought her a mattress as this is something she really wanted for herself as her bones are becoming weaker by the day.”
