A REDDITCH musician could be about to hit the big time as his band gets set to launch their very first record.
Alex Cottom plays guitar in The Verse, an outfit with an accessible indie pop sound in the process of recording an EP to show record companies and studios just what they’re made of.
The four-piece – Alex on guitar, Birmingham’s Jack Harrison on lead vocals, Nuneaton’s Dean Pinnegar on bass guitar and Jack Taplin ‘JT’ on the drums – have had a busy summer, playing gigs and festivals around the country, sharing their sound with an established online fanbase.
Seventeen-year-old Alex said: “It’s been a really exciting few months and we can’t wait to get out there and give something back to the fans who have supported us so much.
“We’ve been doing a lot of busking on the streets of Birmingham and other cities too, so we’re developing a lot as band as well.”
The group having also been doing their bit to support the Redditch community, helping to raise more than £600 with a gig for the Craig and Charlotte Saving Hearts Foundation.
The gig was organised by local youngsters as part of their National Citizens Service and the band played in support of the Redditch charity which campaigns for community access defibrillators.
Their busy summer has come off the back of being guests of ‘The Vamps’ at their concert in Birmingham and The Verse will soon be announcing another tour later in the year.
Alex added: “Our sound and style is something our audience really seem to love at the moment and we’ve had really positive responses to our shows. We can’t wait to see where this record might take us.”
