Marathon challenge for Redditch's Arrow Valley parkrunners

Ross Crawford 30th Aug, 2017   0

ARROW Valley Parkrunners are gearing up for their annual fund raising challenge – running nine 5km parkruns in one day at venues across the Midlands.

The event follows in a fine tradition set by the Redditch runners having raised more than £6,000 for Acorns Children’s Hospice in 2015 and £2,623.74 for Charlotte & Craig Saving Hearts Foundation in 2016.

For 2017 they will be running a different selection of courses to raise money for two charities: Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Action Medical Research for Children.

The runners will again run a marathon through the course of the day, by taking part in the various parkruns.

And they would love to see runners and spectators along the way, particularly as the final parkrun of the day will be back at HQ at Arrow Valley Park in Redditch at 7.30pm.

The runners will also have completed the equivalent of a marathon by the time they cross the finishing line.

Organiser Kevin Parsons has also added a relay race called Tag1234 to this year’s event in an effort to raise as much money as much as possible, with the total currently on £5,032.17.

It’s all happening this Saturday, September 2, with an early start in Brueton Park, Solihull, at 7.30am. Then it’s off to Kingsbury (9am), Coventry 10.30am), Rugby (12noon), Daventry (2pm), Leamington (3.30pm), Stratford (5pm) and Bromsgrove (6.30pm) before the last lap in Redditch.
