FORGE Mill Needle Museum is flinging open its doors to mark the annual Heritage Open Day this Sunday, September 10.
Organised by the volunteers at the museum, it will be open from 11am to 4pm for all to enjoy.
Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of history and culture, bringing together over 2,500 organisations, 5,000 events and 40,000 volunteers and is entirely free.
This will be the volunteers’ most ambitious open day yet and will include free entry to the whole site, tours of the museum and the Bordesley Abbey, songs and music by Indigo Arts, the ever-popular display of motorcycles by the regional Royal Enfield Owners Club, a display of working model boats by the Little Radford Model Boat Club plus free entry to the current exhibition, ‘Inspired by Machinery’.
Redditch Local History Society will also have a display based on their 2016 Redditch Farming Heritage exhibition and there will be children’s activities linked to the history of the area.
Refreshments will be available at the Forge Mill volunteer-run tea bar.
