A PATIENT at St Stephen’s Surgery held a one man protest outside the town centre doctors practice on Monday over the lack of progress in easing the pain he’s in.
Tony Moran has a trapped nerve in his neck – diagnosed in June, four months after it happened – and is still waiting for treatment on it.
He also claims medics are ignoring his pleas for remedial care after knee replacement surgery four years ago.
As the rain pelted down Mr Moran, aged 70, who still works as an engineer, said: “They have completely dismissed me over the knee.
“It has never been right and I wrote to the doctor saying this and he sent me a letter from the consultant saying I was completely satisfied with it, which I certainly am not.”
This year Mr Moran, a campaigner for Save the Alex, suffered a trapped nerve in his neck which he described as ‘pretty painful’ which affects his arm and across his shoulder.
“I went to A&E at the Alex in February, and was told my appointment would come from Kidderminster.
“After waiting a while I rang them and was told I wasn’t even on their list!”
Mr Moran was eventually seen in June by a consultant but has been waiting in pain ever since for treatment.
Ian Johnson of Save the Alex said failure to treat patients like Mr Moran were simply storing up problems in the health service for later.
“It’s a disgrace and frustrating and it is directly affecting the quality of life of people like Tony,” he said.
A spokesperson for Redditch & Bromsgrove’s Clinical Commissioning Group, the local GP organisation said: “Unfortunately, we’re unable to comment on individual cases.
“We would encourage any patient who is unhappy with the standard of care they have received, to raise their issues through the formal complaints process. Any service concerns regarding GP surgeries, can be raised directly with the practice or via the NHS England complaints team.”
