TWO police officers have been injured during a high speed chase involving a stolen white Ford Transit van.
The vehicle was first seen shortly after 2pm today (Friday) travelling on the M5 before it left the motorway and headed into Redditch town centre. The van travelled at speed in bus lanes and was in collision with a police vehicle in Victoria Street.

The Standard was contacted by a driver who encountered the van near the town’s Lidl supermarket.
“It came towards me at speed and I thought we were going to be in a head-on collision.
“It narrowly missed me before mounting the kerb and carried on.
“I could hear sirens everywhere so knew it must’ve been something serious.
“I was shaking like a leaf afterwards.”
A passenger left the vehicle at that point and ran off towards junction 3 of the M42.
Police called off their pursuit of the van at 3.30pm at Churchill Way due to concerns over public safety.
The driver of the van was wearing a fluorescent jacket and had a short beard.
He was ‘heavy set’ and was wearing a grey hooded top.
