Man taken to QE hospital with serious injuries following crash in Redditch this morning

A MAN has been seriously injured in a crash in Redditch this morning.

At around 9am a black Toyota Avensis and a white Fiat van were involved in the smash.

The Fiat was travelling along Holloway Drive when it was involved in the crash with a Toyota by Arrow Road North in Redditch.

The driver of the Fiat van, a 53 year-old man, was trapped in the car for approximately 45 minutes before the fire service could safely release him.




West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the scene and the man was treated for chest, leg, wrist and pelvic injuries and given pain relief before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham on blue lights.

His injuries are not thought to be life threatening and are potentially life changing at this time. He remains in a stable condition.


The passenger of the Fiat, a teenage boy, and the driver of the Toyota, a 41-year-old man were checked over by paramedics at the scene and later discharged.

Police would like to speak to anyone in the area, and who may have witnessed the incident, or who saw the circumstances leading up to it.

The road was closed following the incident and diversion put in place.

A Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed two crews from Redditch attended and said hydraulic equipment was used to cut the man free from the car.
