Redditch students’ star role in safety message

STUDENTS from Heart of Worcestershire (HoW) College’s theatrical and media course in Redditch put their make-up skills to the test when supporting Dying to Drive, an event organised by Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS).

The aim was to make young people aware of the dangers of driving by holding workshops and staging the aftermath of a car crash to reflect the reality of reckless driving.

To make the car crash scene realistic, the college’s make-up students used their skills to create shocking injuries on volunteers acting as victims.

The students also learnt about the consequences of drink driving, cycling safety and controlling speed.

Pete Hope, from HWFRS, said: “I would like to record my thanks for the support shown by the college and the students.

“The quality of work produced was to an exceptional level and we are most grateful.”
