A REDDITCH restaurant is the toast of the country after winning a Good Food Gold Award.

Not only that but last week Champagne Express on Unicorn Hill battled its way past thousands of other UK restaurants to reach the grand final of the Asian Curry Awards in London.

Delighted owner Abdul Ullah said moral was ‘sky high’ after the double triumph and paid tribute to his customers who had given their feedback to judges.

“A Good Food Gold Award is the highest accolade you can get and if it wasn’t for our customers we would not be in the position we’re in to win it,” said Abdul.

The restaurant, which as well as serving delicious curries also runs themed nights, to the delight of diners.

“In the Asian Curry Awards we knew we were up against some big restaurants the length and breadth of the country, and the Midlands category was the largest of them, all, so to make it through to the grand final was really something,” said Abdul.

“We won Good Food Awards in 2016 and 2017 but to top it off with a 2018 Gold Award is just fantastic.

“It takes years of dedication to be recognised but in the last seven years we have been getting noticed. We have a licence but people can bring their own drink which keeps the price down, we have themed nights and charity evenings and good food all adds to the atmosphere.”
