Action to beat crime and fear of crime in Redditch's Astwood Bank

RESIDENTS in a part of Astwood Bank can sleep more soundly in their beds now a new fence has been put up by their homes.

Crime – and the fear of it – had become an issue for local people living off Evesham Road by the play area in the village.

They contacted local Councillor Brandon Clayton who in turn consulted with Police, residents and the Borough Council and using money from the authority’s capital locality projects fund, came up with the solution.

This was to put a fence on two sides of the car park by the garages making it safer for local people.

“The problem had been with garages close by where the residents live,” said Coun Clayton.

“We’ve looked at ways of doing something about it and came up with this solution which will give local people peace of mind.”
