4x4 drivers destroy bollards in village of Great Alne

Redditch Editorial 13th Jan, 2018   0

OFF-ROAD drivers have caused damage estimated at £1,500 at a beauty spot in the village of Great Alne.

Eight wooden bollards have been ripped from the ground at the Bluebell Path just at the entrance to the village off the Spernall Lane route from Studley.

As well as destroying the bollards, the off-roaders churned up the track and damaged adjoining trees and bushes.

The incident happened some time last Friday night and was reported by walkers on Saturday, January 6.

Sergeant Bob Shaw, of the Alcester Safer Neighbourhood team, said: “We do have issues with off-roaders and drivers have been known to use chainsaws and all sorts of kit to gain access to routes.”

He added that in one case a route between Aston Cantlow and Newnham had been closed down completely due to the damage caused by 4×4 drivers.
