THE next chance to get top advice on keeping warm and saving money this winter in Redditch is here.
This Thursday, February 8, free tips and advice will be available in Milward Square (located near Marks and Spencer’s and The Range) and will run from 10am until 4pm.
The borough council’s energy advice partners Act on Energy will be on hand to advise residents about subsidies for loft and cavity wall insulation, help for replacing inefficient boilers or what to do if your boiler breaks plus advice on switching energy suppliers.
Other organisations on hand to help residents stay warm, stay well and save money this winter will include:
Age UK – who will be providing home energy checks.
Care and Repair Worcestershire for help with home repairs and adaptions.
Lifeline – offering much more than just pendant alarms.
The Fire and Rescue Service with home fire safety advice.
Severn Trent Water – if you are struggling to afford your water bill and/or want to save water.
At previous events, residents have been able to find out how much they could save by switching energy suppliers, with some able to save over £200 a year. Some have received free smoke alarms and energy monitors.
The many organisations on hand at the events have also helped to refer people to programmes like the Redditch Energy Efficiency Fund, grants for repairs and adaptations, and home energy and fire safety checks.
Councillor Mark Shurmer, the borough’s portfolio holder for housing, said: “The Warmer Winter events are the perfect place to get advice while you shop and see just what you could be eligible for.”
Fiona Faizey from the Kingfisher Shopping Centre, said: “This is a perfect opportunity to pick up some useful tips and advice on how you can keep warm and save money – and you can drop by at a time to suit you whilst you’re shopping.”
If you are coming to the events and want help with switching energy suppliers to save money, please make sure to bring along an energy bill with you.
If you can’t make the event but want energy saving advice, please contact Act on Energy on 0800 988 2881 or [email protected]. For general information about the events, please contact [email protected].
