Gift of books from Studley pupils gives boost to school in Kenya

BIG-hearted children at Studley Infants School have been helping youngsters thousands of miles away in East Africa.

As part of a programme run through Stratford Butterfly Farm the entire school got together to donate books to be sent directly out to Kenya.

It was all part of the Kipepeo Project. Kipepeo is Swahili for butterfly and the project is something close to hearts of the children, as it supports the butterfly farmers and communities living around the Arabuko Sokoke forest in Kenya.

Donations to this project directly support nature conservation and community livelihood.

Head teacher Debbie Bateman said: “We have quite close links with the butterfly farm and we were keen to help other children in other countries who are not as lucky as we are.

“I thought it was a great way for the community to get involved, the children really enjoyed doing it and they got positive feedback from the school they sent the books to.”
