London Marathon is making Sense for Redditch runner Carina

Redditch Editorial 19th Apr, 2018   0

A TEACHING assistant from Redditch is preparing to pound the streets in the London Marathon to raise money for national disability charity Sense.

Carina Maunder, aged 36, ran the London Marathon in 2016 for Sense and will be putting on her running gear once again after being inspired by her eldest daughter, nine-year-old Paige, who has struggled with cataracts and glue ear.

“Although Paige is not deaf or completely visually impaired, we spent a lot of time during hospital appointments, where Paige’s eye would be patched up,” said Carina.

“I could not imagine what it would be like to be deaf or blind and wanted to do my bit to help by running the London Marathon to raise money for Sense.”

Carina plans to finish the 26 miler in four hours and 45 minutes.

As part of her fundraising efforts, she has held a body combat session at her local gym and a quiz night with a raffle.

A high tea party for her local cycling and running community are also in the pipeline.
