Vet James in 268 mile Pennine Way challenge for Dogs Trust charity

Redditch Editorial 25th Apr, 2018   0

A LOCAL vet is hiking the 268 mile Pennine Way to raise money for the charity Dogs Trust.

Newly-qualified James Haseler is based at Acorns Veterinary in Station Road, Studley and he and some fellow vets are setting off on the trek this Saturday, April 28.

Carrying all their own kit, they reckon it will take them 15 days to cover the entire route which starts in the Derbyshire Dales and finishes in the Cheviot Hills near the border with Scotland.

For training James has been packing in the miles, and did a 150mile trek in six days last autumn, however this will be by far his biggest challenge.

Founded in 1891, Dogs Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the country.

Its stated mission is to ‘bring about the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life free from the threat of unnecessary destruction’.

It’s nearest homing centre to Redditch is in Evesham.
