OVO Energy Tour Series partner, Every Can Counts is urging all spectators at the OVO Energy Redditch Tour Series to recycle their aluminium drink cans whilst at the event.
With 47 per cent of cans being drunk ‘on the go’ and outside of the home – the Redditch OVO Energy Tour Series event provides an opportunity to encourage the general public, cyclists and cycling fans, on the importance of re-recycling aluminium packaging, including drinks cans.
The Tour Series event visits Redditch this Thursday, May 10 with brilliant wheel to wheel racing for both the best in men’s and women’s cycling.
Redditch MP, Rachel Maclean, will be joining the Every Can Counts team on its stand in the ‘Fan Zone’ where she will be encouraging people to take part in the unique cycling ‘Recycle Race’.
“For the seventh consecutive year, Redditch is proud to host the opening round of the OVO Energy Tour Series,” said Mr Maclean.
“Images of our beautiful town will be shown on TVs around the world and I’ve no doubt Redditch will put on a good show.
“We are a thriving community, and I’m thrilled that Every Can Counts, a programme run by a local organisation, is involved, and sharing the message about the importance of recycling.”
The Every Can Counts campaign is also a lead sponsor of the Trek-Drops professional women’s cycling team for 2018 and there will be opportunities to meet the riders and win prizes at the Every Can Counts stand.
Every Can Counts is run by Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation (Alupro), a membership organisation that encourages people to recycle their aluminium packaging.
Heath Harvey, CEO of SweetSpot which organises the OVO Energy Tour Series events, added: “We’re looking forward to working with Every Can Counts to promote the invaluable messages of their campaign; we hope that our enthusiastic racegoers will embrace their collective aims and do their bit to help the environment.”
