A REDDITCH mum is appealing for more donations after having her head shaved for charity.
As featured in last week’s Redditch Standard, Julia Wilson is hoping to raise £3,000 for treatment for her dear friend a colleague Amanda Hatfield who has advanced cancer.
The two both work at Halfords head office in Redditch and the hope is to collect enough money to send Amanda overseas for some alternative treatment.
“Money is still coming in and so far I’ve raised £1,745 but I would like to hit the £3,000 mark,” said Julia.
“I was quite nervous about getting my hair cut off, I’ve had it long since I was about three years old, but now it’s gone I absolutely love it and I’ve thrown away my brush!”
And the mother-of-two has found that her daughter Heidi wants to get in on the act too.
“She wants to cut her hair too and donate her plaits – but I think it’s something everyone should do at least once in their lives,” said Julia.
Amanda has undergone 20 chemotherapy sessions, concentrated radiotherapy treatment, two bone fortifying injections and two blood transfusions.
“There is a lot more treatment out there to explore and I feel my body cannot take anymore chemotherapy and I feel so weak,” she said.
