National help available for local residents left reeling from floods

WYTHALL and Hollywood residents affected by last week’s flooding could receive help from the National Flood Forum (NFF).

The national charity, based in Worcestershire, began touring the areas on Tuesday with its information trailer.

Councillor Tony Miller, cabinet member with responsibility for the environment at the county council, said: “Whilst I’m very proud of the response to date from the county council, the district council and our Severn Trent colleagues, the residents who have suffered from this freak weather event deserve the best support we can provide.

“This means councils and their partner agencies will continue to work to help the community recover but the special expertise, empathy and support that the NFF can bring will be extremely welcome.”

Emerging data about the rainfall, which led to the terrible flooding in Wythall and Hollywood, suggests it was significantly worse than anything experienced during the infamous flooding in 2007.

For urgent help, residents should call 01905 845676.
