Peaky Blinders night to help combat illness that blights thousands

Ross Crawford 14th Jul, 2018   0

EVERYONE is invited to a Peaky Blinders charity evening organised to combat Crohn’s Disease and ulcerated colitis.

The event, on Saturday, July 21, features music, a buffet, drink on arrival and prizes for the best dressed Peaky Blinder and Moll.

It’s been organised by local resident Elaine Histon who has had family members stricken by the condition.

Because it’s to do with ‘down there’ – problems with the bowels – people don’t like to talk about it but it has a devastating effect on the lives of those who suffer from the condition.

Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease both involve inflammation of the stomach and usually affect people in the 15 to 40 age range – the symptoms are pain, stomach cramps, extreme tiredness and diarrhoea and there is no known cure.

There are around 300,000 sufferers in the UK, many of them children, teenagers, and young adults.

Elaine’s event, at Batchley Club on Bridley Moor Road, from 7pm, is in aid of Crohn’s & Colitis UK, a charity which offers free confidential advice and information on the condition as well as funding vital research.

Tickets are £5 and more information is available on 07305 364506.
