Redditch car company completes two-day charity rally in Japanese-inspired Micra

A REDDITCH car company completed a two-day charity rally in a Japanese-inspired Nissan Micra, raising £800 for Autoraise Charity in the process.

The event, which began in Telford and finished in Wales two days later, was organised by UK-wide company, Gemini Accident Repair.

Workers at Gemini Accident Repair in Redditch were given an old Mircra to customise after they drew Japan in the company’s World Cup draw.

The different branches of the company had different themed countries, decided by a draw.

Colin Rowley, manager at the Arthur Street Branch, said: “The entire journey was an incredible experience, we managed to cover more than 500 miles.

“We stopped off at a castle in Portmeirion and the views were just fantastic.

“The weather was so hot and I don’t think being dressed as Japanese Samurais helped cool us down.

“I thought the rally was very well organised and we didn’t suffer any problems at all on the road.

“The car did exactly what we asked it to do and got us to our destination with no hassle at all.”

Colin said it felt like he had been gone a long time because the rally began on Wednesday morning and the group returned on Friday evening.

“I’m just really glad we managed to raise so much money for a worthwhile charity.”

The branch will be looking to sell the Nissan Micra on eBay in the near future and all profits will be added to the sum already raised.
