REDDITCH’S summer street theatre kept families entertained today with a bunch of high energy performances, fun activities and comical acts.

Crowds gathered between 11am and 3pm on Friday July 27 to watch a number of street performers get their groove on.

Hula hoop expert Angine Mack was demonstrating her fast paced skills in front of an audience of dazzled children who afterwards screamed to have a go themselves.

When asked how she manages to keep so many hoops spinning at one time, she said: “It was a lot of trial and error and first but I’m well practiced now.

“But it never gets old and it’s always fantastic to put a smile on people’s faces.”

Angie was joined by several others throughout the day, including ‘Able Mable’, a chaotic hapless show girl with a heart-warming sense of humour.

Drummer Nick Ledbury was also at hand to teach children how to ‘bong like Donkey Kong’ with a series of lessons built around finding the right rhythm.

Parent of three Charlotte Randal visits the street theatre every year with her children, Leo, aged 8, Cassie, aged 10 and Dyllon, aged 13.

“I really enjoy it and the kids love it here too.

“Last year they couldn’t get enough of ‘Juggling Jim’ and his plate spinning, so they came back for another go.”

The three siblings began juggling plastic plates before moving on to see ‘Twistina’, the amazing balloon lady, who is capable of making anything from Spiderman to Pikachu with the touch of her hands.

Twistina said: “I travel all around the country but it’s great to be in Redditch, I’ve loved being here.

“It’s been a fantastic day.”

Next month Winyates Shopping centre will come alive with street theatre for visitors of all ages on Friday, August 10.
