MUSIC lovers from as far afield as the United States, Mexico, Australia and Europe will be descending on Redditch town centre next month to honour a local lad who became a global star.
And local businesses are being urged to get involved and support the occasion, which will put Redditch on the music map and give a boost to the local economy.
On Saturday September 22, “John Bonham A Celebration” will celebrate the late Led Zeppelin drummer’s 70th birthday, his life and legacy.
Organised by John Bonham Memorial Friends in partnership with Heart of Worcestershire College, the special music event will run from 1pm – 11pm in a massive festival marquee on the college car park in Peakman Street.
Featuring a stellar line-up of rock/blues artists, headlined by Europe’s official No.1 Led Zeppelin tribute band, Letz Zep, proceeds from ticket sales are going to Teenage Cancer Trust to help fund their Outreach Nurses Support programme here in the West Midlands region.
The costs of staging the event require sponsorship, either in cash or in-kind.

It is planned to make this an annual event in the town where a bronze memorial to John was unveiled on his actual 70th birthday on 31st May this year.
