A £5,000 challenge laid down by the charity Guide Dogs is set to get a massive boost thanks to a Worcestershire puppy walkers’ event in Redditch.

Today the plush wedding and event venue Bordesley Park will play host to a sold out afternoon tea and puppy parade backed by a bumper raffle.

“We’ve had donations from supermarkets for prizes and a lot of people have been very generous,” said puppy walker Catherine Barker.

The event is part of a Guide Dogs ‘name the puppy’ scheme and enough is raised and the name is suitable the pups progress can be followed as it undergoes its guide dog training.

“We’re all members of the Worcestershire puppy walking group and we’ve already raised quite a bit of money,” said Catherine.

“Bordesley Park have given us the venue free of charge which was very generous of them and we’re hoping this event will get us over the finishing line.”
