PATISSERIE Valerie, which has a cafe in Debenhams in Redditch, has been saved after its executive chairman Luke Johnson made £20million available in emergency funds to prevent the Birmingham-based company from collapsing.
However the business, once widely regarded as a success story with more than 200 outlets nationwide, still faces a Serious Fraud Office investigation which has seen its finance director arrested, a winding up order from HMRC for unpaid taxes and an accounting hole in its finances reportedly nearly £10million deep.
Nevertheless its cafes, including the one in Redditch, remain open for business.
