BIRCHENSALE Middle School welcomed the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) Jazz Messengers for an inspiring event to encourage children to learn to play an instrument and take an interest in Jazz.
It was an interactive concert with children forming a 300 strong choir for one of the pieces and with amazing results.
Students also learned about the various instruments and how they worked.
Some of the children from Birchensale’s beginners brass group chatted to the Jazz Messengers about learning an instrument, their own experiences, and gaining valuable knowledge and understanding of the instruments.
Music co-ordinator Sarah Dalby said: “Birchensale was glad to welcome the NYJO Jazz Messengers.
The whole event was great and inspiring the musicians of the future.”
