VOLUNTEERS from Headless Cross Community Orchard have re-used a greenhouse to help residents at Wood Court retirement complex raise plants to help their local orchard.
Residents and orchard volunteers together dismantled their old greenhouse and put up a fresh one in its place.
The residents aim to raise plants this spring to be sold at the orchard group’s May Fayre next year on Headless Cross Green.
Orchard volunteer Gabby Hemming said: “We’re really pleased to have Wood Court residents onboard.
“They told us they wanted to play a part in the orchard and new greenhouse will be perfect to help green-fingered residents raise plants to ensure their gardens at Wood Court are a feast of colour next summer, and also help supply Headless Cross Orchard’s plant swap stall at the May Fayre.”
The next events at Headless Cross Community Orchard will be their annual Christmas Eve Carols on the Green and their Wassail to wake-up the orchard on January 5.
