A TAKE That fanatic is jumping for joy following the shining success of her new exercise class at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic First School.
Philippa Young has been a fan of Take That – famous for hit songs including Shine, Greatest Day, Never Forget, The Flood and Back For Good – since the early 90s when the band was first formed.
She decided to shake things up by combining Take That music with a hard workout.
“I put on the first class as a trial but it turned out to be a real success. People were loving the fact they could have a dance to Take That and get fit at the same time,” said Philippa.
“Because it was so popular I’ve decided to do it every Monday. I think there are lots of Take That fans out there and that’s why it works.”
Lead singer Gary Barlow even tweeted about the class after seeing it online.
“One of my clients put a video of the workout online and Gary saw it. He tweeted her back saying he loves what we are doing.”
Philippa uses old and new Take That music during the workout and encourages her clients to perform iconic dance moves which people would associate with the band.
She also teaches ‘basic fitness moves’ which allow people of all ages to get involved.
“A lot of my members are getting ready for the Take That tour which is coming up soon,” said Philippa.
“We all want to look our best for it.”
The workout takes place every Monday at 7.30pm.
