Plea for jigsaws as Coughton Court opens with annual festival event

COUGHTON Court opens its doors for the new season on Friday, March 1 with the return of its annual Jigsaw Festival from 11am to 5pm until Sunday, March 10.

Over the past five years the National Trust-run home has managed to collect thousands of jigsaws and raised more than £25,000 for vital conservation projects at Coughton.

The team are constantly overwhelmed by the generosity of the public and the money raised has gone towards vital projects such as re-wiring the whole mansion, conserving the dining room carpet and the day to day caring of the collection.

This winter extensive conservation work was carried out on a selection of 16th to 19th century paintings.

“By carrying out this much-needed work, our aim here at Coughton is to care for and protect this special place for current and future generations to enjoy,” said Abi Cole from Coughton Court.

The money from every jigsaw sold at the festival goes straight back into preserving the historic property.

Anyone who would like to donate a jigsaw should call 01789 400777 for more information.
