RENOWNED local historian Richard Churchley will talk on ‘Needlemaking in Worcestershire and Warwickshire 1640-1940’ at the next meeting of Studley Local History Group.
He will be looking at the origins of the local needle industry which started in Studley in the reign of King Charles I in the early 17th Century.

He will show how what started as a cottage industry in Studley and Sambourne grew to be a mechanised, factory-based industry exporting all over the world and employing thousands of people across Studley, Redditch and Alcester.
Richard is the man behind the ‘Feckenham Forester’ magazine, and was awarded a doctorate at the University of Birmingham.
His talk is on Tuesday, April 16 at 8.15pm in Studley Parish Centre in Needle Close.
Entrance is £2 members, £3 visitors.
