Studley nursery Bright Kids steps in to save Coughton base from closure

LEADING local childcare provider Bright Kids Nursery Group is celebrating after acquiring a failing nursery and saving it from closure and protecting staff jobs and children’s spaces.

The former Old School Nursery in Coughton had been facing closure following an Inadequate Ofsted rating.

Instead Bright Kids Group owner Tricia Wellings stepped in following the success of her existing settings in Crabbs Cross, Studley and Northfield.

Bright Kids Coughton has now been added to the portfolio and the team is already busy implementing changes to bring it up to scratch with Ofsted, supported by outgoing owner Emma Acors, who will be joining the Bright Kids team to provide continuity to the existing families.

Earlier this year Tricia picked up the Business Person of the Year accolade at Touch FM’s Pride of Stratford Awards.

She launched her flagship nursery, Bright Kids Studley, more than 20 years ago, and since then has expanded the business exponentially.

Tricia also launched an Early Years training facility, MBK Training, in 2014 and subsequently a training products business, Foundation Focus – all of which operate from the group’s head office in Studley High Street.

The Old School Nursery has provided childcare services to the people of Coughton for nearly 10 years.

The Bright Kids team plans to bring all of the experience and expertise that it offers in its other settings to the nursery.

It will be introducing the Curiosity Approach, which is followed across the group, and offering training to the whole team.

The nursery has just registered with Ofsted and is expecting its first inspection anytime within the next 30 months.

All three of Bright Kids’ other nurseries are rated Good or better and the most recent inspection was in January 2018, when its Northfield setting obtained an Outstanding rating.
