THE humble crisp packet is helping to raise hundreds of pounds for Guide Dogs at a Redditch School.
Pupils at Batchley First School have been busy collecting the packets for recycling in return for charity funds.
They have been inspired to do something for the cause which provides guide dogs for the blind and partially sighted.
And on Tuesday they came face to face with the real thing when Guide Dogs puppy walker Helen Evans came in to school with a partially sighted user and her pooch.
“It costs in the region of £50,000 to train a guide dog and the support of the pupils at Batchley First School has been absolutely brilliant,” said Helen, a former governor at the school who’s been a Guide Dogs puppy walker for four years.
“The children have been magnificent, the classes have been in competition with each other to see who can collect the most and Redditch Borough Council have helped out too by giving us a wheely bin to store the bails of packets.
“We visited the school because I wanted the children to see what life they give to people – Guide Dogs is a fantastic charity to be part of.”
