THE charity Guide Dogs is more than £2,500 better off after a brilliant family fundraising day at the Golden Goose on Icknield Street Drive.

Scheduled to run from 12noon to 5pm on Whitsun Bank Holiday, so many people flocked to the event the organisers didn’t close up until 6.30pm.

“It was phenomenal – a very long day but absolutely worth it,” said Matchborough resident Heath Tattersall from Guide Dogs.

“We just had so much support, there was plenty for the children to enjoy and if they’re happy then generally their parents are happy too.”

He also paid tribute to the Golden Goose which hosted the event.

“This was the first one we’ve done with the landlady at the Golden Goose and they are more than happy to do a follow up and we’re hoping to make it an annual event.

“So our thanks go to them and also our main sponsor Build Base and everyone who supported us and who gave us raffle prizes.

“Loads of raffle tickets sold, both of our tombola stalls were wiped out of prizes by 4pm and we had a queue of children patiently waiting for face painting and tattoos with bouncy castles, archery, various games and loads of guide dogs to make friends with.”
