REDDITCH Christians will in the town centre tomorrow to celebrate a significant date in the church calendar – and members of the public are invited to join them.

The event marks the arrival of Pentecost, said the Rev’d Steve Levett, chair of the town’s Churches Together in Redditch group.

“It was the event that launched Jesus’s disciples out into the world to spread the good news and make more followers, and is thought by many to be like the birthday of the Church,” he said.

“Pentecost provides an opportunity for the Christian family of Redditch to get together and celebrate.”

Pentecost will take place on the Green in the grounds of St Stephen’s Church in the town centre.

From 1pm there will be activities for young people, opportunity to pray and a chance to meet and eat together including a free barbecue.

This will be followed by an open air service at 2.30pm.

In the event of rain activities will move into St Stephens.

Bring your own sauces for the barbecue.
