Standing ovation at memorial concert for Redditch stalwart Graham

A STANDING ovation closed a concert in memory of the late, great, Redditch musician and organist Graham Moseley.

Born and bred in Redditch, for 60 years Graham was organist at Headless Cross Methodist Church before it was demolished.

This freed him up to play at other churches including St Stephen’s, St George’s and Emmanuel Church in the Ecumenical Centre where he played his final service a week before he died, aged 88, in February this year.

So it was fitting that the memorial concert should be held in the Ecumenical Centre before a packed house of friends, colleagues, loved-ones and admirers.

Featuring the Alcester Victoria Silver Band and a host of singers, including Graham’s wife Pat, and with Sue Underwood and Jane Richardson on piano, there was something for everyone in a superb programme which ranged from ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ from Les Miserables to the ‘Dambusters March’ and Scott Joplin’s ‘The Entertainer’ to Leroy Anderson’s ‘Trumpeter’s Lullaby’.

“It was a brilliant evening and thoroughly deserved the standing ovation at the end,” said Graham’s friend and fellow musician Philip Jarvis.
