THE story of the Royal Enfield and the men who made it was the subject of the latest talk at Redditch Local History Society.
It was delivered by John Budgen, the chairman of the Midland Group of the Royal Enfield Owners Club and featured video clips and original images to tell the story of the Royal Enfield from its beginnings in Hunt End, to its heyday in Hewell Road site to today as a product manufactured in India but still showing its Redditch origins.
John has been a keen supporter of Royal Enfield activities in Redditch with events at Forge Mill Needle Museum, Church Green and Arrow Valley Visitor Centre and is also heavily involved in many other activities in Redditch.
A man with an enviable knowledge of the company, his talk was based on the people who actually made the motorcycles of this iconic brand.
Redditch Local History Society meets once a month at the Oasis and more information can be found at www.redditchhistorysociety.org.uk/.
