STAFF and students at Woodrush High School are celebrating some great GCSE results, writes Eve Watson.

A fifth of students at the Wythall school achieved at least one grade 9, putting them in the top five per cent of students in the country for those subjects studied.

A quarter of all grades were marked at a grade 7 or above, and 80 per cent of pupils achieved at least a pass in English and 70 per cent a pass in Maths.

A few special mentions go to Sam Pearce who gained eight 9s, one 8 and one 7 and Rafaela Monteiro who achieved six 9s, one A*, two 8s, one 7 and one 6.

Other successes include Yegor Lisle with four 9s, three 8s, three 7s and one 6 and Rosie Butler with five 9s, two 8s, two 7s and one 6.

Headteacher, Natasha Rancins, said: “I am extremely proud of all our young people who worked so hard to achieve their wonderful results.

“The school congratulates all their students and looks forward to pupils joining Woodrush Sixth Form, and wishes their leavers every success in the future.
