ANDREW Grant estate agents has joined the list of casualties on Church Green after the firm closed its Redditch branch earlier this week.
The news had sent a wave of concern across the local business community as it brings to at least nine the number of vacant shop units around St St Stephen’s Church.
A note left in the doorway to the business, reads: ‘Andrew Grants Estate Agents. Thank you to all the staff who over the years provided amazing service. Another victim of the high street!!!???’
Ken Williams, who led the successful Redditch Business Improvement District vote, said the closure highlighted the challenges facing businesses as shopping trends evolved.
“Church Green has some real positives, characterful buildings with superb architecture, and for us as a BID we need to identify how we create new means of attracting consumers,” he said.
“We need to find a way that will support businesses in a mutually supportive way, so that when they draw people to them there is enough curiosity and interest en route from other businesses for consumers.”
He added the situation wasn’t helped by the political, economic and environmental situation.
A spokesperson for Andrew Grant said: “As you may be aware estate agency is continually evolving and adapting to the needs of the client.
“At Andrew Grant the most important thing about us is our clients… when they need to see us we will visit them, not the other way around.
The Worcestershire team are ready to serve clients across Redditch and beyond.”
