Cordiale appeal: Call for families to help host French visitors to Redditch

Redditch Editorial 4th Oct, 2019   0

AN appeal is being made to local people to host school children and their teachers from France while on short trips to visit our region.

It comes from by Voyage UK, a local language trip organisation, which is looking for families in the Redditch, Studley, and Alcester areas.

It’s an opportunity to show little ‘entente cordiale’ earn some money – all hosts will be paid – and help a French student learn all about this corner of England.

In exchange, host families are asked to provide a bedroom, full board – breakfast, packed lunch and dinner.

Hosts are also required to take their guest to their local meeting point.

From there the students will be on all day excursions from 8am until 6.30pm or later, depending on where they have been during the day.

Hosting on school trips is very suitable for working families, or indeed retired people who may have empty rooms and are looking to supplement their income.

The trips normally take place Monday to Friday for three or four nights during March, April, May and June.

Besides the financial benefit, host families can enjoy an enriching and rewarding experiences as they help young people develop their language skills and even form a lasting bond, with many hosts keeping in contact with their students long after they have left.

Anyone who is interested in hosting should call Redditch resident Céline on 07753 840056.
