A RANGE of household items set for landfill are being saved and kept for those in need, thanks to a charity partnership in Redditch.
A reuse container was installed at the Redditch Household Recycling Centre in December 2018 to collect any unwanted furniture or household items.
Goods retrieved from the container are collected by Boomerang – a Redditch charity which helps low income people and families.
Pauline Thorne, from Boomerang, said: “Boomerang is now working in conjunction with the Redditch recycling site, where they are now able to save items of use for us to pick up and pass on to those in need.
“This not only helps with our local community but is also beneficial to the environment which we at Boomerang feel very passionate about.”
Since the container was installed, more than a tonne of items have been reused by Boomerang.
