THE Vaynor First School have achieved a Silver Award for the School Games Mark.
Youngsters at the school began the year aiming for bronze, but under the leadership of PE leader Dawn Duggan surpassed their original aim to clinch silver.
The school’s sporting achievements include first place in the District and County Quicksticks Hockey tournament, second in the District Mixed Tri Golf tournament, individual Gold and Silver medallists at the District Cross County event, second in the District Mixed Tennis tournament, second in the District Cricket tournament and also being invited to represent The Vaynor at the Summer Games, following a very successful entry in the Dance Festival.
Headteacher Sallyann Dunstan said:”We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport.
“We are delighted to have been recognised for our success and of course this year we are ‘Going for Gold!’”
