Seventeen youngsters brave cold during Nightstop’s latest sleep-out

SEVENTEEN youngsters braved the cold during charity Redditch Nightstop’s latest sleep-out.

The event, aimed at raising awareness for rough sleepers and the hardship they go through, was held outside Redditch United Football Club last Friday (October 11).

Club members supported the volunteer sleepers by bringing out hot drinks throughout the night and cooking breakfast in the morning.

Coordinator at Nightstop, Sharon Holtom, said: “One of our sleepers slept out all night in just her warm clothes, lying on a piece of cardboard. She woke up at around 6am and reported feeling tired, sick and off-balance.

“Everyone agreed it was an eye-opening experience for the people who go through this every day.”

Cash raised for Nightstop from the event is yet to be counted.
