First-ever zero waste shop in Redditch to open in December

Redditch Editorial 26th Oct, 2019   0

THE FIRST-ever zero waste shop in Redditch will open on Saturday, December 7 in a bid to make the town more Eco-friendly.

Residents wanting to use ‘Redditch Refill for Life’ will be asked to bring along their empty bottles and jars to have them filled with zero-waste products.

They will be able to top up on shampoo, conditioner, laundry liquid, washing up liquids, dried foods, animal foods and more all while knowing they are doing their bit for the planet.

The brains behind the idea Karen Martin, also director of Inspire Community Training CIC, said she will buy in bulk to reduce the amount of plastic used.

“We are a tiny CIC which will profit from our new shop,” she said.

“It will be regenerated into our main organisation Inspire Community Training to help fund our mental health, domestic abuse and LGBT work.”

Redditch Refill will stock locally produced handmade goods such as woollen clothes, bath bombs, beauty products, cards and jewellery.

Also available will be bamboo, toothbrushes and sanitary products.

Karen added: “I’m eager to hear from the local community and get them on board with the project.

“We want to hear ideas to make sure our store is the best it possibly can be.”

Redditch Refill for Life will be based at Unit 7, Winyates Craft Centre, Redditch B98 0LA.
